WE ARE TxMLC
About Texas Medical Legal Consultants
Sisters and Co-Owners, Elizabeth LaBarge Esq. and Kathryn Goertz bring their legal and medical backgrounds to their team to benefit their clients. After graduating from the journalism program at University of Texas Austin, Goertz transitioned into medical office administration, managing a busy neurological medical practice. LaBarge attended law school at Washington University St. Louis. She practiced business litigation in St. Louis before moving back to San Antonio in 2010.
TxMLC was founded with the goal of providing administrative services to physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals who utilize their medical expertise in the legal field by serving as expert witnesses. Attorneys and paralegals communicate with TxMLC case managers (100% of whom are paralegals) for administrative assistance on the expert’s behalf, as opposed to working with the expert’s clinical office staff. This unique approach reduces the expert’s non-billable time, minimizes the risk of miscommunication, and increases attorney access to the expert. TxMLC stays on the case from start to finish, ensuring the satisfaction of all parties.
Our Philosophy
At Texas Medical Legal Consultants, we believe that expert opinions and work product should be formed solely by the medical specialists retained by legal clients. Therefore, our company does not condense records, influence opinions, provide experts with narratives, or otherwise insert ourselves into the substantive aspects of the case.
